Choosing Salad Knives For Great Salads

Why not to look for a good quality salad cutlery while preparing your desired salad. Your choice of a quality salad knife will for sure enrich your experience of preparing a scrumptious salad for your family. Choosing a quality salad knife depends on your needs (basically a lettuce knife will boast to cut both vegetable and lettuce but instead opting for a stainless steel knife would prove to be a better choice).

Choice of this cutlery item also depends on your expertise level. Wise is to choose one which comes with a broad handle for good grip.

No! It’s not a bad idea to stuff your kitchen with a variety of kitchen and salad knives, it will only help you to choose a right one for a particular requirement and thus will help you to rightly maneuver through the cutting, slicing and chopping. But there are some important aspects of choosing a salad knife from the available wide range (to avoid the cluttering in your kitchen).

It is very important to compare on weight, handle grip or design, durability and price. Basically a light-weight and perfectly balanced salad knife would be a great way to start with. The handle is no problem if it is having a good soft grip which won’t slip away from your hand.

This is a typical problem with some of the salad knives especially when they are wet. Well if you are right hander you wont face any problem in choosing a firm grip but if you are a left hander take extra care while choosing knives with good grip (don’t worry many of them can be ordered for this kind of grip).

The next big thing in a salad knife (read in any knife) is the blade. Ensure that the blade is made up of good quality stainless steel (carbon or molybdenum/vanadium). This retains the sharpness of the blade for a time to come and avoids chipping of the blade on high use.

The small groves (or dimples) on the knife blade is helpful in two ways. One it gives a sharp cutting edge to the knife and secondly it creates an air pocket between the blade and the food for real effortless slicing or chopping. And now these features should be compared with the price in which it’s being offered to you.

Now when you are a proud owner of a good quality salad knife, to use it in the optimum level (it extends knives life as well) is in your hands. Do not put the salad knives in the dishwasher, instead wash them in the sink and wipe them clean (it is more convenient that way).

While chopping the food or vegetable do it on the cutting board instead of any other surface, it will protect the sharpness of the cutting edge. Store the salad knives in the knives holder than storing them in the drawer (putting your hand abruptly in the drawer to grab a knife can hurt).

Believe me a good cutting knife can add fun to the entire process of salad preparation. Ensure to have one.

Columbia River Knife & Tool are great knives

Back in 2000 the US Customs seized a shipment of knives for Columbia River Knife & Tool worth over $4.3 million. The inspector thought that Because of the assist opening mechanism was to much like a switchblade even thought these pocket knives had come thought customs many before, this time they did not. After 17 days CRKT got there knives back. Even thought the pocket knives are very easy and quick to open none of them fit the definition of a switchblade defined by the U.S. Switch Blade Knife Act of 1958.

Columbia River Knife & Tool had a slow start but in 1998 they came out with a small folding knife called the K.I.S.S Witch stands for Keep It Super Simple. This knife was designed by Ed Halligan. The K.I.S.S was Columbia River Knife & Tools first success. The K.I.S.S soled out the first day. This was a huge boost to the Columbia River Knife & Tool.

Columbia River Knife & tool holds many patents. Two of the most obvious are the patents for there AutoLAWKS, and the assist opening Mechanism. Columbia River Knife & Tool has two features that make them different for the other manufactures. The AutoLAWKS is a safety feature. It is a typical locking liner with a extra twist it has a small lever that make sure that the lock does not slip out. And is just as fast to open and close, all you do is hold down a small Lever and it folds right up just like all other pocket knives. Now the Patent that I think is the best feature that Columbia River Knife & Tool has is the assist Opening mechanism. This is just a small lever on the back of the knife and then you give it a little flick the knife pops open. It is a feature that I love about my Columbia River Knife & Tool and I am sure that you would love it to.

Where Emerson interest in knives comes from a gift he received. A Barlow knife when he was a young child, and as we all know later started making them. Emerson made his first knife for a because he needed one, not to make any money. He was working on his martial art and need a Balisong knife and with his salary could not afford one so he took a shot at making his own. When he went back to his class with his new knife every one was very imprested so they asked if he would make them all one, and he did just for the price of parts. He started charging money later when he realized this could be a great way to make some extra cash. Emerson made such good knives that his reputation started to grow. Emerson started to branch out and started making fixed-blade knives part time as he also worked with his martial arts training.

Then Later Emerson went to a gun show and saw a Michael Walker folding knife a thought is great design. After this Emerson chose to make pocket knives from then on out. He contacted walker about using the Walker Linerlock on his own pocket knives and after that there was no looking back. Emerson quickly became a big name in the pocket knives world. Emerson first pocket knives where more on the decorative side, but now he make more practical pocket knives that our military and SEALs teams use and he even made pocket knives for NASA. With collectors Emerson knives are very very popular. Emerson’s first knives logo feature a Bowie knife and it very rear to find, and as a result very popular with collectors.
