Some Marine Reserve Questions?
So for a while now I have been looking at joining the Marines. I took the ASVAB a little while ago and got an 80 with line scores 120+. I love the work I do and with the Marines filling up for the year my recruiter brought up the Reserves. Up until now I really did not look at it but it is looking pretty good to me right now.
The reservists train once a month and two weeks out of the summer I believe. When on training, what to they do? Is is PT/ MOS training?
Do reservists still retain the “active duty” status meaning? For example, automatic knives can only be sold to “active duty” and I believe Handguns can be purchased under 21 with “active Duty” ID. Even though the Reservists are not “active duty,” do these examples still apply?
What do you feel about Reserve vs Active duty? For some reason I feel the reserves are not as ‘prestigious’ as active duty….Let me know!

you train in the particular MOS you are during your drill weekends. You are only considered active duty while on drill or once mobilized. no the reserves don’t carry the same weight or prestige as active duty folks
