It’s Almost Hunting Season! Get a Gerber Knife!

The fall hunting season is almost here!  Hunters everywhere are starting to go over their equipment and see what they need to upgrade for the hunt.

And high on any hunter’s list is a quality knife.  And what better knife to fit that need than a Gerber knife!

The history of the Gerber knife has been covered in previous posts so refer to them if you want to know more about the company.  I won’t bore you again with all theinteresting information.

With 6 decades of making quality knives behind them, Gerber is still at the cutting edge (sorry, I couldn’t resist the bad pun!) of innovation and that innovation is very evident in their line of hunting knives.

The Firestorm: The Gerber Firestorm opens easily with one hand and features a heavy duty 3.25 inch surgical stainless steel “tanto”-style blade. The finger guard provides additional safety and assists opening. The tough stainless steel handle is textured with polycarbonate scales to ensure a strong grip. There is a stainless steel pocket clip for easy access.

Harsey Fixed Blade Hunter with Tactical Sheath: This classic hunting knife designed by Bill Harsey features a contoured, non slip rubber handleand a stainless steel drop point blade. The Harsey Hunter is available witheither a molded positive retention sheath, or a classic leather sheath. Featuring a honed razor sharp edge, this 5-1/4 inch, 400-series full tangsurgical stainless steel blade will easily tackle any situation the hunter willdemand of it. The blade is a drop point style, making the Harsey Hunter a first choice of hunters.

Magnum Camo Jr.: The folding hunting versions of the L.S.T.series include Magnum Jr., a scaled down Magnum. They are light enough for the pocket and strong enough to tackle most common hunting needs. This is an expanded version of Gerber knives LST series. With the 420HC steel, this 2 ¾fine edge blade has amazingly durable edge and sharpness. The fiberglass-reinforced thermoplastic unbreakable handle with Mossy Oak Brand camouflage finish is the eye catching part of the knife. It has a total length 6.19″.

Freeman Hunter: This is one of the most well known designs of hunting knives in the hunters’ community. The polished pear wooden handle enhances the aesthetic quality of the equipment. This hunting knife had been designed to facilitate the hunters to skin smaller and larger games quite easily. Crafted from the premium grade stainless steel, this legendary creation of Gerber Legendary Blades has proven to be the best for real hunters and has won the BEST OF THE BEST award. The most significant features of this knife are its true finger guard with the finger grooves. The thumb serration helps to exert added pressure while cutting. It comes in a ballistic nylon sheath with the full length of 8.35″.

Ultimate Game Cleaning Kit: It’s got everything you need to be proficient at field dressing. The kit includes EZ Zip with 2 blades, Exchange A Bladesaw with 2 blades and a folding Clip Point Gator all packaged in amossy oak camo break up case.

These are just a few of the many quality Gerber knives that are available to the hunter.

Why Gerber Knives are Considered “Legendary”

Thinking of a knife as ‘Legendary’ is probably not something that you do very often. But in the knife world there are certainly knives that are considered ‘Legendary”.  The Gerber Knife is most definietly given that honor.

About Gerber Knife:

Gerber knives founder, Pete Gerber, was honored in 1985 by Blade Magazine for his contributions as was mentioned in a previous post.

Since its beginnings, Gerber knives have been designed by the best designers in the knife industry, including Fred Carter, Bob Loveless, William Harsey Jr., Rick Hinderer and Blackie Collins, to name a few. This is main reason that the company has been in business for so many decades. In fact, quite a few Gerber knives have been passed from parent to child.  My father gave me my first Gerber knife when I was a teenager and I have since given it to my son who will no doubt give it to one of his sons. A Gerber Knife is a family tradition for us.

Gerber knives are typically utilized for a number of different purposes, including hunting and outdoor activities as well as for multi-purposes uses. This makes them ideal for the recreational sportsman or the professional military individual. As one might suspect, the typical Gerber blade is second-to-none and comes with a money-back guarantee, something that isn’t found on cheaper types of knives.

The Gerber Knife Company is well known through out the industry for their innovative contributions to knife technology.  Their locking units, handle styles and material compositions are always on the forefront of “what’s new” in the industry.  And the company listens to it’s customers who are often a excellent source of inspriation.

Gerber knives are designed and made for all budgets.  And regardless of the budget the customer is getting a quality knife, one that will last for many years.

Which Gerber Knife to Buy?

Confused about which style of Gerber knife to purchase?

The first question is, what are you going to use your knife for?  That will narrow down your choices. Are you a hunter?  A camper? Do you just need a knife or two in your tool box or for your emergency kit in the car? Maybe just a small knife to carry in your pocket? Do you want a folding knife or a fixed blade?  How big of a knife do you need?  All these questions will help determine what knife you need.  Which might be different that the knife you REALLY want!!

And of course there is always the price. As I said earlier, all Gerber knives are offered at different price points.  You can spend $15 or $20 to $100s for a Gerber knife, and each one will be of excellent quality. Which one you want is based on tyour needs as well as from the place you buy Gerber knife.

So are Gerber knives Legendary?  In my opinion yes they are!    Navy Seals think so!
